I’m beyond excited about the trip to Alaska next week, but a trip to Alaska requires many, many hours on a plane. I don’t have any sort of flight anxiety and don’t mind flying, but my legs do get restless after a while and I wish I could just stand up and go for a long walk or do jumping jacks. What I really love about flying, though, is the dedicated time to reading. I’m of course bringing my kindle which has more books on it than I care to admit (I have a bit of a problem), but here are the books I’ve ‘tagged’ for Alaska…
- The Age of Innocence (actually, this one will likely be finished this weekend. I LOVE it.)
- A Life Without Limits
- Once A Runner
- Einstein: His Life and Universe (for the work book club)
- The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (one of my girlfriends and I have decided to start our own “mini-book club,” of sorts. We’ll both read this one and then discuss at our next happy hour!)
And for the 15 or so minutes when I can’t use my kindle (bastards), I think I might bring along An American Tragedy to re-read. (Although maybe I should pick a thinner book that will add a little less weight to my carry-on?)
Other packing essentials for me include my hot pink compression socks, advil (potentially advil pm if I want to try to sleep on the plane, but that’s rarely successful with me), smart water (purchased after passing security, obviously), a caffeinated beverage (the 8oz they give you on a plane simply won’t cut it), and snacks, snacks, snacks. (Peanut m&ms, anyone?)
Sarah, I am waiting for a blog post about your marathon and the beautiful scenery in Alaska. Don’t leave us hanging too long…:)
I’ll be posting about Alaska soon! I had to break it up into little pieces. I hope you guys had an AMAZING time at the outer banks!!
